Prejudice speaks to the preconceived thoughts people carry in the darkest place of their minds. The song is about the LGBTQIAPD life and the struggles that many of them face everyday. Sometimes people say thoughtless or offensive things without even meaning to do so, based on a belief that needs to be deconstructed in the deep-end of their minds. I started writing the song because I was mad, mostly. Then it turned into a deeper message of love, for all those who face struggles because of their sexual orientation or gender recognition. I want our community to unite, to love, and to be there for each other.
The song features Radio Stevie, a gay rapper from NY, who I met not long ago when he was performing here in Brazil. I love how proud he is of being gay, and the way he talks about it. That’s why I chose him for this song. I hope this song will be a message to everyone who feels sad and hopeless at difficult times. I want them to feel empowered when they listen to this song. I want them to know they’re not alone.
